A UK-based collective rooted in traditional ska, rocksteady and reggae, Phoenix City All Stars bring an authentic 1960s Jamaican sound to the stage.
Formed as a side project of Pama International and led by producers Sean Flowerdew and Lenny Bignell, the band are known for reworking rock, pop and punk classics into vintage ska and dub.
A firm favourite on the international ska circuit, including appearances at the London International Ska Festival, their sun-soaked sound and deep-rooted musicianship make them a standout act in the revival of classic Jamaican styles.
There’s not many artists that can cite Dizzy Gillespie, The Faces, The Kinks, Little Richard and Ben E. King on their CV, but reggae star Freddie Notes can, and more! Famed for his chart hit with The Rudies – Montego Bay and two classic albums for Trojan Records, Freddie was the front of house dancer at Count Suckle’s Cue Club, London’s first black owned venue. There he got to meet and work with all the greats of the day… Otis Redding, Ike & Tina, The Beatles, The Stones and more, in a club that thrived on the hottest rhythm & blues. He even played Mick & Bianca Jagger’s wedding!
